DSI based systems use this item. Electronic direct spark ignition systems..
Only live testing confirms the failures involved with these units ignition systems.
See attached testing troubleshoot guide to narrow in on failure. You should consider bringing in a local professional for hire to help diagnose the failure portion of the repair through live meter testing. However, something you can attempt prior to changing item in hopes to recover the unit. Follow the AIR/ SHUTTER directions on attachment shown and check the air shutter on the burner is adjusted properly as the drawing shows. If you find the AIR shutter was never adjusted at install and is still WIDE open, then very likely the DSI has been overworked during its life and likely needs replacement. If Air/ Gas mixture is left wide open at day of install and not adjusted, unit still works... but as it ages with too many turn on/ turn off attempts will run it into the ground prematurely. Basically over works your module if Air / Gas mixture not set properly at day of install. THIS IS THE LEADING FAILURE OF MODULES. NEVER INSTALL ONE WITHOUT ADJUSTING AIR SHUTTER PROPERLY AFTER.
If you find Air shutter wide open:
Adjust the shutter per the attachment. Likely you are in lock out for too many failed attempts with bad gas/ air mixture. Please adjust shutter to proper position and reset unit at breaker after.....reattempt ignition after.. If that doesn't recover unit function, you may need a new DSI module, but again only live testing and diagnostics at jobsite can really say for certain. THANK YOU!
